Kiambu County Police Commander James Mugera has asked politicians to mind whatever they say in public since that could determine the harmonious and peaceful co existence between people of different ideologies and political stands.
In address to the media on Saturday, Mugera cited Kiambu politicians who joined Makongeni traders who were demonstrating against the county government.
He pointed out that the leaders ought to have guided their followers and not incite them that to keep causing chaos and protesting.
Mugera went on to urge the leaders to unite the residents towards one development and security goal.
He observed that Kenyans are in dire need of security, development among other values like reconciliation.
He further went on to caution those who are inciting the public to raise chaos in the county saying the police will deal with them as any other criminal.
“We cannot compromise the security of the area because you are a leader inciting the public. We will deal with you like any other criminal out there. You have seen we have not been compromised by the fact that we had MPs in the demonstration, they were dispersed like the other demonstrators,” Mugera said
Some of Kiambu County leaders including Thika MP Alice Ng’ang’a and Kikuyu MP Kimani wa Ichung’wa were present during the demonstrations and were dispersed by the police.
