Kisii County police commander Hassan Abdi has warned local politicians against inciting members of the public.
Abdi stated that the law will cut across all edges and no one will be spared.
“Any politician who thinks he or she can incite members of the public and be left to walk freely is day dreaming. The law will not care whether you are an MP, MCA, senator or governor. We are all protected by law and no one will be subjected to harm,” he said.
Abdi said Bobasi MP Innocent Obiri will be charged over incitement at a Kisii court after he was arrested on Saturday in Nairobi.
He said that his arrest will serve as an example for those leaders who incite members of the public.
“We are starting with Bobasi MP who caused disturbance at a quarry in his constituency. Other leaders should learn to follow legal procedures to solve disputes in their areas failure to which they shall face consequences,” he said.
He urged members of the public to shun politicians who are out to misuse them to gain political mileage.
"Locals should keep off politicians who buy alcohol to cause mayhem. Police will be on high alert to arrest anyone causing disturbance,” he added.
