The Kenya Police force is counting heavy losses incurred during the violence that erupted during and after the repeat presidential election.
According to police reports, five people died with 19 other sustaining injuries in the chaos.
Among those injured were six police officers.
"During the election our key focus was to ensure that peace and tranquility prevails before, during and after election period," said Inspector General Joseph Boinnet.
"It should be known that we serve all people in strict fidelity to the law and will always act without partiality or regard to political affiliation," Boinnet added.
