Machakos County police commander Samuel Mukindia has trashed claims that cops were involved in Sh390,000 robbery on Friday.
Mukindia said victim Javason Kiendi, 33, did not spot the thieves at the Machakos Police Station as reported on section of print media but was just comparing the officers he met at the station with gangsters who robbed him of his money.
He addressed the press at his office in Machakos town on Monday.
Mukindia, however, confirmed that for a fact the victim had withdrawn money which he was later robbed by unknown assailants in Machakos town on the fateful day.
He said Kiendi reported the incident at Salama Police Station in Makueni County where he was referred back to Machakos Police Station.
Mukindia said the man was impatient when he went to report the matter at Machakos Police Station and couldn't wait to be attended to.
He said the victim demanded to speak to the Machakos DCIO without following due procedure.
"The pain of being robbed and loss of such a substantial amount of money made him impatient. To him, he thought the CID would help him more," Mukindia said.
Mukindia said police had launched investigations to bring to book the culprits.
Javason Kiendi was robbed of Sh390,000 which he had withdrawn from Equity Bank in Machakos town on Friday.
He claimed that two men bungled him into a saloon car threatened him with a gun, robbed and abandoned him in a bush at Konza along the Nairobi - Mombasa Highway.
Kiendi had earlier claimed that the thieves who robbed him were the same men who manned Machakos Police Station's report desk when he went to report a claim he disowned when questioned by the police earlier today.
