Five suspected thugs have been shot dead in separate robbery incidents across Nairobi in the heated war against crime.
A policeman was also shot and wounded by thugs in one of the operations though he is in a stable condition.
Officers say the policeman together with others were responding to public calls that the gang was in the process of harassing and robbing from locals in Dandora.
The officer was shot and seriously injured in both of his legs and was rushed to hospital as confirmed by Nairobi police boss Japheth Koome.
During the incident, one of the suspects was shot dead and police recovered a pistol from him.
The police boss said the pistol had three bullets.
Another hunt on the other accomplices did not bear fruits.
In another incident, three other suspects were gunned down in a botched robbery in Mt View Estate, Kangemi area.
They had reportedly broken into a house and held hostage members of a family before police were called.
