A notorious armed robber who has been causing sleepless nights to Ruiru town residents has been killed by police.
The gangster, who police termed as lethal and said to be behind a series of robbery with violence and carjacking incidents in Ruiru town, was killed by police on Saturday night at a house in Ruiru town.
Confirming the killing, Ruiru Police boss Isaac Thuranira said police raided the house on Saturday night and killed the suspect after a five minutes shootout between them and the criminal.
“Police officers raided the house after receiving information from members of the public,” he said. Thuranira said the deceased refused to surrender and engaged the officers in shootout.
He identified the criminal as Malik Musumba adding that a search for two of his accomplices who escaped has been launched.
Thuranira said police recovered an AK 47 rifle with two bullets, a toy pistol, five mobile phones and some electronics.
The police boss observed that the deceased has been behind a series of robberies and carjacking along the Thika Superhighway.
“He has been on our wanted list for five months and has escaped several arrests,” said Thuranira.
Thuranira said police will not get tired of searching for criminals, adding that they will hunt them down to their dens.
The police boss thanked members of the public and urged them to continue giving tips to the police on the whereabouts of criminals.
