[Photo/the-star]Anti-riot police deployed in Kisumu during Nasa's anti-IEBC demos on Monday are reported to have harassed journalists as hundreds of supporters thronged the streets.While dispersing the protesters, the officers lobbed tear gas canisters to the journalists as they noted they do not want to be followed and exposed.A KTN journalist Rashid Ronald and Star reporter Faith Matete were mobbed by about 20 officers drawn from the General Service Unit near Kisumu Boys High School.Rashid was injured on the leg after being clobbered.NTV’s Ouko Okusa, his camera person Doreen Magak and Daily Nation reporter Rushdie Oudia were teargassed.A Standard Media Group photo journalist was ordered to surrender his camera or be dealt with.Kisumu Journalists Network chairman Dickson Odhiambo was also injured on his leg while running after teargas was fired."We will not entertain journalists in Kisumu. You kisumu journalists think you are special...we will deal with you," one of officers is quoted by the Star.
