Police in Kisii have intensified the search of culprits who were involved in a weekend incident at Nyankongo Village, where a 14 year old orphan was murdered after being defiled.
According to Kisii County police Commander Abdi Hassan, already detectives have been sent to investigate the matter.
He said he was sure the culprits behind the murder will be brought to book.
According to him, the incident happened when the girl who lives with her grandmother went to buy milk at a local shop.
The girl did not return prompting her grandmother to raise alarm.
Her lifeless body was the following day found by locals lying in a bushy area.
“It is unfortunate to lose such an innocent girl. We are still piecing together facts which will help us arrest the culprit or culprits behind the act. We won’t sleep until we ensure that justice is done,” she said.
The police boss urged family members and the public at large to volunteer information which will ensure speedy arrest of the culprits.
“The family and the public are essential in helping us drive this issue to a conclusion. We are urging them to give us any information that is relevant,” he said.
