Police in Kikuyu are searching for a gang of armed robbers who on Monday evening shot and killed a man in Thamanda village.
James Gikaru, who works with the Ministry of Health a Afya House administrator, was responding to a distress call in his son's home when the incident occurred.
George Njuguna, Gikaru's brother, told the Star that Gikaru heard a commotion in his son’s compound and decided to know what was going on.
“They both live in the same compound. After parking his car, he heard noise and went to confront young men who stood near his son’s house and a struggle ensued,” Njuguna said.
The robbers shot Gikaru in the waist as they escaped on a motorbike after they realised people were responding to the alarm raised.
He was rushed to the PCEA Kikuyu hospital but passed away as he had lost a lot of blood. Area chief Samuel Waithaka said police officers at Waithaka police station have launched investigations.
