Police in Kikuyu are hunting for a middle-aged woman who allegedly poisoned his husband in Zambezi, Kikuyu Sub-County after realising that he was having a second family.
The man was however rushed to hospital by neighbours and the wife who is suspected to have poisoned him escaped.
According to a neighbour, Alice Njoroge, the two had argued the previous night and it was as a result of the wife had realised that the husband was having a second family.
She said that however her husband (the neighbour) intervened and calmed the matter.
"This morning they again started fighting over the same issue only for the man to be poisoned with rat poison that was recovered at the dustbin," said the neighbour.
Njoroge says they saw the woman leave in a hurry and when they entered the house they found the husband struggling on the floor and took him to the hospital immediately.
According to area OCPD Mutune Maweu, the woman has not been arrested yet, but the man is out of danger after his life was saved by the neighbours.
He, however, appealed to residents who may have any relevant information about where the woman might have gone to report to the police.
"I want to send a serious warning to couples who have in the recent past resolved to commit crime after domestic issues that it is a crime and punishable by law," said Maweu.
