Police officers in conjunction with children rights officers in Machakos County are looking for a maid who escaped with a 7 month-old baby.

The maid is said to have made away with the child from Eastleigh area where they were staying with her boss after she went out for job.

According to Christine Wanza, the maid had stolen her two children, a girl aged four years and the 7 month-old boy, where they later recovered the girl.

“She had stolen my two babies, a girl and boy. We have found the girl abandoned outside on the streets. I am calling on the police to help me find my boy,” said Wanza.

Children rights officer from the county Jorum Kamau, who was helping in the search, has urged residents to make sure they know the backgrounds of the people they leave their children with.

“Parents should hold special documents of their maids to help them trace them in case they escape after doing anything bad in their homes,” said Kamau.

According to Kamau child theft is becoming rampant in Machakos town. It is only one day before the incident when they found two children who had been stolen.

Parents have been urged to be careful and also be aware of their children’s whereabouts.
