A middle-aged man is being hunted by the police officers in Kisii County after he was suspected to be the cause of his five-year-old son death.
It said that the suspect Mr John Omaiko, 33-years-old went missing after his son collapsed and died allegedly following injuries he had inflicted on him.
According to neighbors, the father of the boy beat him with a big stick on November 8 causing him serious injuries on his body
The boy died shortly afterward before they could take him to a health center.
The incident happened in Kitutu Central ward.
Confirming the incident the Assistant chief of Mosocho location Mr Mose Ondieki said he was told about the boy's death at around three in the evening and immediately called the police.
Kisii County Criminal Investigation Officer Mr Justus Burudi said they are yet to establish the exact cause of the minor's death.
He added that the police have launched a manhunt for the father of the boy to help with investigations.
“The father of the boy is still at large but we have launched a manhunt for him so that we can be able to establish the reason behind the injuries he caused to his son,” said Burudi.
The body has been taken to the Kisii Level six hospitals awaiting a post mortem examination.
“From the post mortem result, we will be able to determine whether he was responsible for the death of the boy and let the law take its course,” added Mr Burudi.
