Police have launched a manhunt in Matuu, Machakos county to bring to book robbers who stole from a wealthy village man.
The robbers allegedly occupied the house for one week, dinned and feasted with impunity before dispersing with household goods valued at over Sh650,000.Locals claim over 10 suspected criminals enjoyed themselves in the elegant house belonging to the prominent businessman who was on a journey to Wote town in Makueni together with his family."Neighbors first thought they my relatives until they started seeing them moving out at night carrying electronics, mattresses and other items at night that's when they alerted the police and me," said Michael Matheka the house owner.The police led by Matuu OCPD Edward Kipsang Changach conducted an operation where they moved from house to house and recovered stolen items including electronics. Five suspects were arrested and are assisting the police in identifying the hideouts for the remaining culprits."We have launched a manhunt for their other accomplices who are still at large. Among those being sought for questioning is a KDF soldier who was mentioned by one of the suspects and who was not in the house when police raided his home," said the OCPD.He said the suspects had given them key leads and expressed optimism that the remaining ones will be apprehended soon.
