Police in Nakuru are pursuing a woman identified as Emily Kirui who allegedly dumped her newborn baby in a pit latrine in Agano village Elburgon, Nakuru County.
The three-day-old baby was wrapped in a paper bag and was rescued by residents and area assistant chief Haron Koima on Friday morning.
Area assistant county commissioner Naftali Korir confirmed the incident.
“Residents heard the baby crying from the toilet and alerted the authorities to rescue the child. We have launched investigations to arrest the mother to face prosecution,” he said.
Korir urged the public to volunteer information on the whereabouts of the suspect for easy arrest.
The infan was taken to Elburgon sub county hospital for examination before he will be taken to a local children’s home.
