Police are hunting down Lugari MP Ayub Savula over planned demonstrations by Mumias Sugar farmers slated for Sunday.
The protests are said to be over the farmers' interests as well as the recent killing of the Sugar Company's Legal Affairs manager Ronald Lubya.
Lubya was shot dead last week in his house by a gang of unknown assailants who did not steal anything from the house.
Savula has confirmed the arrest threat and said he has received messages and calls from senior police officers in Kakamega and Lugari warning him against the demonstrations.
“They said I should not dare leave Lugari for Mumias or Kakamega because I will be arrested. Right now a team of officers has barricaded Lugari-Kakamega road to stop me from heading to Mumias," the agitated MP said in Eldoret.
He has dared police to arrest him and vowed to be in Mumias tomorrow to spearhead over the manager's killing as well as address other problems at the miller.
He said his troubles began last week after he raised the issue of the murder in Parliament, blaming cartels to be behind the company's woes.
“He [Lubya] opposed importation of sugar from Brazil, and repackaging of the same locally, and refused to sign a deal to give some politicians S10 million each from the company for campaigns," he said.
