Police are pursuing a former officer in Nyamira North sub-county over the rising wave of crime in the area.
Addressing journalists in his office Monday, Nyamira County Commissioner Joseph Rotich confirmed that security officers were looking for a former police officer who they believed is behind the criminal activities in the troubled Nyamira North sub-county for decades now.
"Our security personnel are looking for a former police officer who we believe from our investigations that he might be the ring leader in committing crimes in Nyamusi division of Nyamira North sub-county," said Rotich.
The county security boss added that three hardcore criminals have been arrested in a series of security patrols mounted in the area recently.
He, however, encouraged the public to offer any information to security agents that could help curb insecurity in the county.
He blamed most of the criminal activities on the continuous brewing of illicit liquor where he warned the perpetrators to cease the vise adding that his officers will not relent on the war against such brews.
He said the crackdown has since been fruitful as over 98% of brewers have either been arrested and convicted or ceased the illegal business.
He urged residents to work closely with the chiefs and their assistants in a bid to end the illegal business.
