Former Njoro OCS Haron Mugere had threatened to arrest police imposter Joshua Waiganjo for harassing his staff despite the fact that he was ranks higher than him.
Mugere told the Nakuru court that he resumed duty on August 2012 after his annual leave and was met by frustrated officers who claimed Waiganjo had been harassing them every time he came to the station.
Testifying before Nakuru Senior Principal Magistrate Joe Omido, Mugere said that Njeru had introduced Waiganjo to him before he went for his leave and said he was an Anti-Stock Theft Unit officer based in Gilgil.
“I could not doubt since he was in full uniform,” Mugere added.
His relationship with Njeru went sour when he questioned why Waiganjo harassed other officers.
Mugere further told court that Njeru and Waiganjo had schemed the closing of five popular joints in Njoro town claiming they had no license to operate beyond the stipulated 11 pm hour.
He claimed that the two had been spearheading the closure of the popular clubs and restaurants as they had been having secret meetings there.
“Our feuds with Njeru became worse when one day he told me that I had angered the PPO for his phone went off when a robbery occurred at Molo which prompted my transfer to Turkana East,” he added
Njeru told the court that he suspected the transfer was procedural since he had been transferred from Baragoi, Samburu.
Stephen Komen who worked at Rift Valley Provisional Headquarters told the court Waiganjo made frequent visits to the former PPO John Mbijjiwe and was given a government vehicle to accompany him wherever he was going.
He further stated that he came to know Waiganjo on September 14 2012 through former Njoro OCPD, Peter Njeru who requested him to fuel the Njoro police station car.
Komen also told the court that Waiganjo had jungled uniform with the badges of Deputy Police Commissioner which made Komen give him all due respect which junior officers give their seniors.
He further said that he drove Waiganjo to Naivasha for inquiries at the office of the district commissioner.
Boniface Mwangi who witnessed second said that the OCPD Njoro, Njeru introduced him to Waiganjo where he was to drive him to Londiani for a graduation ceremony. He didn't inquire much about him because he was a senior officer with full uniform.
They were testifying in the case where Joshua Karianjahi Waiganjo is accused of impersonating a police officer.
The case continues on Thursday when three more witnesses will be presented before the court
