Subukia police have arrested a police impostor who had been allegedly swindling money from members of the public in Kabazi.
The alleged impostor, Edward Mbugua, 37, was netted by police on Tuesday evening.
Subukia Police boss Alex Nga’ng’a said the man was arrested by plain clothes officers at a local restaurant.
He said the suspect is being held at Subukia police station as police probe him further.
Ng’ang’a said that the area residents had complained about the activities that were being carried out by the man.
“We had received information about the suspect and our plain clothes officers arrested him on Tuesday,” said the Police boss.
Ng’ang’a said the suspect will be charged in court once the investigation is complete.
He asked residents to be cautious of individuals disguising themselves as police officers when in real sense they are criminals.
The Police boss further asked residents to be vigilant and report suspicious people who may be a threat to security to the relevant authorities.
He said police in Subukia will conduct 24 hour patrols to curb crime.
