Police officers in Naivasha on Monday morning impounded 552 litres of chang’aa that was being ferried to Nairobi from Kampala Uganda, in an incident that also saw one woman suspect arrested.
Naivasha OCPD Charles Kortok said the illicit brew, which was being ferried in a truck that was headed to Nairobi was impounded at Longonot, along the Mai Mahiu/Nairobi road.
He said that the brew had been packed in 2kilogramme polythene papers and concealed in six 90kilogram sacks that contained powdered milk.

“That is when they discovered the illicit brew disguised as powdered milk stashed in the sacks leading to the arrest of the woman,” said Kortok.
The police boss said that the driver of the lorry managed to escape, but they had launched a manhunt for him.
He said that they will arraign and charge the woman suspect in Naivasha court on various charges, among them being in possession of illegal liquor.
