Police in Eldoret are holding two suspects who allegedly stole a car in Nairobi over the weekend.
The suspects are said to have stolen a Toyota Hillux Pickup from a parking site in Kasarani, Nairobi.
According to police the two were arrested in Eldoret town after the car was monitored and tracked.
Confirming the incident, Nakuru West police commander Smollets Munyanzi said the suspects were arrested by traffic officers along the Nakuru-Uganda highway.
Munyanzi said the suspects had been tracked all the way from Nairobi adding that more investigations are being conducted to unravel the syndicate.
“We suspect that the two belong to a large syndicate that has been behind car theft and robberies in Eldoret,” said Munyanzi.
He said that the two will remain in custody and would be charged in court once investigations are complete.
The police commander warned criminals saying their days are numbered. He added that police will remain vigilant and would deal ruthlessly with criminals.
“If you are a criminal and operating in Eldoret know that we are coming for you, criminals have nowhere to hide, we will flush them out,” he warned.
Motorists complained of rising cases of carjacking and robberies along the Eldoret highway accusing the police of failing to combat criminals.
“We have seen cases of carjacking increase everyday yet the police take long to act on them,” alleged, Moses Kariuki, a taxi operator.
The taxi operator appealed to the police to conduct more surveillance and nail criminals behind the carjacking incidents.
