According to Manga OCPD James Mundwa, who was speaking during a press briefing in his office, the two minors remanded in Manga juvenile remand home are alleged to have escaped the well-guarded institution.

The minors, aged 17 and 14 were being held for alleged murder and theft, and are said to have climbed the perimeter wall of the institution at around 1.30 on June 8, where they escaped from the institution and have not been traced yet.

“The 17-year-old boy, who was facing murder charges and the other, aged 14 on theft charges escaped at 1.30 am and efforts to trace them has not been successful yet, and we are calling the community to help us find them since they are a threat to the community,” said Mundwa.

Mundwa however, said that the custodians, who are welfare officers could be investigated over the incident, to establish whether they had a hand in three incidents of breakouts that have happened this year.

“We have never witnessed such case before, and therefore we believe we will manage to get them and let them face the law” said Mundwa.
