Police in Eldoret town have launched an investigation into an incident where five officials of Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago's campaign team were seriously injured when unknown people attacked them on Saturday night.

Langas OCPD Wilson Abduba said the police already have in custody a vehicle that is believed to have been used by attackers.

Speaking in Eldoret Monday, Abduba said the culprits would soon be arrested.

"Our officers are piecing together details of the incident and the vehicle that was allegedly used by the attackers is in our custody," said Abduba.

The incident that took place in Langas, a few kilometres from Eldoret town left the five with head, eye and neck injuries.

"They blocked the road using a matatu, pulled us out of our car and started beating us up. We were saved by good Samaritans before police arrived," said Jairo Mutai, one of the victims.

The incident comes barely a week after a convoy of gubernatorial aspirant Bundotich Zedekiah Kiprop alias Buzeki was stoned in Eldoret town by individuals believed to be governor Mandago's supporters.

Nobody has been arrested in relation to the last week's incident that left several vehicles belonging to the billionaire business mogul extensively damaged.
