On Monday, several institutions in Migori were closed down following intelligence reports that Al Shabaab militants were planning an attack on major institutions in the county.

Kisii OCPD Tom Mutisya on Tuesday warned entertainment hubs owners against possible attacks and urged them to do thorough checkups before allowing people to use their premises.

He said the increasing number of entertainment premises, some which are not authenticated by authorities, makes it difficult for police officers to man them, especially during weekends.

“I would like to call upon those who own entertainment hubs in town and its suburbs to carry out thorough scrutiny by asking customers to produce relevant documents like ID cards for verification,” he said.

“Security belongs to all of us, therefore, we must be responsible. Manning these premises is sometimes difficult but the police are ready to work with locals to ensure security is tightened up,” said Mutsya.

The police boss asked the local people to work with the police by providing information that can lead to apprehensions of individuals who may be dangerous to the security of the region.

“I would like to also invite members of the public to report suspicious incidents to enable us take action. We cannot allow the enemy to destabilise our nation,” he said.
