Police in Muranga have killed three gangsters suspected to have murdered two police officers in Nairobi's Kayole estate.
The three were gunned down on Saturday by the flying squad at Kenol, Murang’a county.
Confirming the incident, Murang’a county police commander Naomi Ichami said the three fled to the Kenol town hideout after committing the crime in Nairobi.
She added that the thugs had also stolen guns from the two officers and that they were tracked down through their phones.
When overpowered, the gang broke into a home where they took hostage three family members.
“After they broke into the home, we were forced to strategize on how to get to them and got some officers from our specialised Recce unit who were able to access the home and neutralise the suspects,” she said.
She said her officers managed save the family and recover two guns, a pistol and an AK 47.
