Witnesses say that the suspects were shot at by officers guarding the area, as they ran away for their lives.

The two, who are said to be residents of Thika, have been stealing for a long time as gangs before they were arrested and then released, according to the security personnel in the farm.

They are said to be having orders of pineapples in Thika town where they sell to the roadside fruit sellers at fair prices, thus making the business interesting.

Jones Munene, a Thika-based security officer, explained how suspects have been using tricks to steal from the company for years before they were hunted down.

Confirming the incident, Thika sub-county police boss Shadrack Maithya congratulated the Delmonte security men for helping the police in Thika reduce thugs that have been harassing the residents.

The police boss said that the gang that attacks Thika residents at night in Majengo area is the same that steals at Delmonte and the death of the suspects is a milestone ahead in the security sector.

“We are delighted to see the criminals getting down in numbers and we are sure that we are going to hunt them down and ensure security is to the maximum,” Maithya said.

The Delmonte security department manager James Sigurdsson insisted that they will hunt down all thugs in the area.

“These people should be eliminated soon as we are operating at a loss when they steal from us,” he said.

The deceased’s bodies were taken to Thika Level Five hospital mortuary, awaiting to be claimed.
