Police on Wednesday night shot dead two suspected thugs and recovered two guns and 22 bullets during a robbery incident in Kariobangi.
According to the Standard, the dead were on a motorbike, attacking and robbing residents when an alarm was raised alerting the police on patrol.
The officers chased them briefly before a shooting ensued, killing the two, while the third suspect fled on foot and police have launched a manhunt for him.
Their bodies were moved to city mortuary while the recovered pistols have been sent for ballistic tests to ascertain whether they have been used in any crime.
And in an unrelated incident, a woman is admitted to Kenyatta National Hospital after she was shot in the stomach and seriously injured by thugs in a robbery at an M-Pesa outlet in Kahawa West.
Police and witnesses say the gang had demanded cash from her but she resisted prompting the shooting. The gang later fled with an unknown amount of money towards the nearby congo slums.
Kahawa West residents have protested the rising cases of armed robbery in the past few weeks saying no arrest has been made so far.
