The Ethics and anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officials have arrested a traffic police officer together with a revenue officer of the Embu county on account of soliciting bribes from motorists.

The two were part of a team of some five policemen manning a roadblock along the Embu- Nairobi highway.

The EACC officials laid a trap after a tip-off from motorists and seized the officers after they received the bribe.

According to a motorist who witnessed the drama, the other police officers fled the scene on foot.

Attempts to cake them to court were however not successful since the law courts in Embu law.

Confirming the arrest, Embu West OCPD Francis Sang said the police department and the EACC had been monitoring the roadblock after getting numerous complaints from the public.

They have said that they will still target matatu operators that give bribes.
