Police in Bahati, Nakuru county  on Wednesday  launched investigations into an incident where unknown people drove a car into Dundori Forest and set  fire on it.

According to residents, several gunshots were heard emanating from the scene before a huge dark smoke was seen billowing from the forest.

''I was going on with my normal chores at home when I heard gunshots from the forest. As I was rushing to my neighbor to notify her,I saw a huge plume of dark smoke billowing from the scene.We rushed to report the matter at Dundori Police Post,'' said Peter Kuria, a resident.

According to the information given to the Standard by Bahati OCPD Edward Wafula said the owner of the car was identified through registration number who was called in and helped to arrest one of the suspects.

''We indentified the owner of the car, Mr Edward Mwangi  using the registration details. He had hired the vehicle to two people in Roysambu in Nairobi one of whom we have since arrested and he will help us understand the matter in detail,''added OCPD Wafula.

One of the suspects arrested is a student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agricultural Technology.
