Police in Kisumu have launched a manhunt for conmen in the area.
Kisumu East Deputy County Commissioner Moses Ole Tutui said that the police are launching a manhunt for conmen operating in the town.
Speaking to the press in his office today, the commissioner said that the number of conmen have increased in the town and the number of victims of conning is also alarming.
“We cannot continue living in a society where other people wake up to rob others off their hard earned money and other resources. The town has recorded a high number of con cases in the last five months. This time round, we are going to ensure that we bring these offenders to book as we have sent enough warning,” said Tutui.
Tutui also warned the residents of believing strangers who come to them with pre-planned promises and pretence of having problems.
He asked the residents to report any suspected case of conning to the police for investigations to be launched immediately.
The Deputy County Commissioner noted that the conmen entice their victims into believing them using niceties and other promises.
“Some of them pretend to be the providers’ staff and ask you to pay a certain amount of money for you to win a given prize. Let us not fall prey to the good things promised to us by strangers and strange numbers,” he said.
