Police in Watamu have launched investigations into an incident where a man died while undergoing an operation at a private hospital.
The investigations will entail establishing if there was any foul play during the operations that led to the death of the man who police are yet to give his identity.
Doctors, police said were to perform a minor operation on the man as he awaited to be transferred to the Coast Provincial General Hospital in Mombasa for specialised treatment.
The man passed on while being operated on at a private health facility in Watamu.
Malindi police boss Matama Muchangi confirmed the incident that rekindled memories of the recent Kenyatta National Hospital case where doctors performed an operation on a wrong patient.
Muchangi said law enforcers including officials from the Criminal Investigations Directorate have been assigned to investigate the incident.
Ndabasi MCA Emanuel Changawa called on police to ensure justice is dispensed to the family of the deceased man who is said to have comfortably walked to the hospital unaccompanied to seek for treatment.
"This rarely occurs because by the time doctors take a patient for an operation, they are sure the patient can stand such an exercise," Changawa told journalists on Monday.
