Police officers in Nyamira County have launched a crackdown on the counterfeit products in the region, Nyamira County commissioner Isaiah Nakoru has confirmed.
The commissioner stated that traders who will be found selling fake products to residents will be arrested and arraigned in court before their products will be destroyed.
“Fake products should not be allowed in Nyamira. Cartels who will be found selling products that have already hit expiry date to residents will face the full force of the law,” he said.
He challenged traders purchasing products from suppliers to ensure they are not supplied with fake products to avoid being on the wrong side of the law.
“We will do everything to ensure fake products are not in the markets within Nyamira County. Residents should report any trade they may suspect selling fake products which have not been authorized by KEBS to police so that the offenders can be arrested before selling the products to the members of the public,” he noted.
He warned suppliers against using dubious means to penetrate fake products into the region saying there will be no mercy on any supplier found in possession of fake products.
