Police in Nairobi have impounded about one million litres of adulterated fuel in three godowns in Industrial Area.
During the Friday raid, police also arrested more than 100 suspects, believed to be part of a cartel that deals in illicit fuel.
According to the Star, Nairobi CID chief Ireri Kamwende said lorries from major oil companies are driven into the yard and loaded with adulterated fuel which is sold to unsuspecting petrol station operators.
Lorries belonging to two major companies -- Kenol Kobil and National Oil --were found in one of the godowns. They were among tens of vehicles found parked at the site.
Kamwende said the unscrupulous dealers mix diesel with paraffin.
