Police and Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) officials in Eldoret town on Saturday night raided a house and confiscated counterfeit KRA stamps.

The stamps are used for verifying the originality of Kenyan-made products mainly alcohol drinks.

County KRA boss Silah Boit said police, alongside KRA officials, have launched a manhunt for the owner of the house where the stamps were found.

Eldoret is among towns in the country where counterfeit alcohol products are sold.

Most of the outlawed alcohol products come from neighbouring Uganda and unscrupulous businessmen use the porous Malaba and Busia borders to smuggle in the alcohol drinks.

"We will not give up on the fight of illicit beer in Eldoret. It's our duty to ensure Kenyans consume standard products," Boit told journalists after the raid.

Two weeks ago Governor Jackson Mandago called on security agencies to strike out the license of entertainment joints that sell alcohol products outlawed in the country.
