Speaking to reporters at his office on Thursday morning, Bernard Mutua Muasya, the subchief in Kaani location, where the two villages are located, said that the authorities are fighting against illicit brew in the region which is a national concern, and a fight which was launched by the Kenya's president, Uhuru Kenyatta, sometime last year.

"The fight against illicit brew, which we have seen kill Kenyans in several areas, will continue here in Kathiani, we arrested a notorious brewer yesternight and two others disappeared but we assure the public that we will not stop till we lock them all in," said Chief Mutua.

The police took the containers containing the brew to be used as evidence in court.

The chief also warned bar operators who open their businesses before and beyond restricted hours, saying that legal actions will be taken against them.
