Police in Eldoret town have launched an investigation after over 300 sachets of illicit brew were nabbed at Jua Kali trading centre, several kilometers from the town.
The alcohol valued at over Sh108,000 packed in six sacks, were being transported by a matatu to Eldoret from Bungoma town.
According to Eldoret West OCPD Samuel Mutunga, police received information from the public, and managed to track down the matatu.Driver of the vehicle is in police custody helping with the investigation.
"The driver has told us that he was connecting with somebody from Langas and Huruma estates. We are investigating him and hope we will gather more information so that those involved are arrested and prosecuted," said Mutunga.
"A local saw the sacks being packed and informed us leading to the arrests and we want to urge the public to continue working closely with to help fight illicit brew," he added.
Police say the illicit brew was manufactured and packed in Uganda before finding its way into the country.
