Police in Migori on Tuesday nabbed bhang worth Sh5 million along the Masara-Nyatike in Migori County.
The bhang was being ferried on a probox when the police intercepted the consignment.
The driver and another occupant of the probox disappeared in the bush when the police cornered them.
Confirming the incident, Migori county police commandant Julius Mukanda said they were acting on intelligence information that they had received about the drug traffickers who were carrying the bhang from Tanzania.
Mukanda said the bhang was destined for Meru County, according to the map that was being used by the suspects which the police recovered from the vehicle.
According to the map, the bhang was being ferried from Muketa to Tanzania and was to pass through Migori-Kisii road to Nakuru, Nyeri, Nanyuki and finally to Meru.
Migori county commissioner Joseph Rotich said the county security committee and officers from Tanzania are working together to deal with the illegal drugs coming from both countries.
