Police in Ichaweri village, Gatundu South constituency, recovered crude weapons, as Jubilee Party primaries were going on.

Kenya Moja reports the weapons were being ferried in a Toyota Noah vehicle, during the exercise, Friday.

Police acted on a tip-off from members of the public, after they realised the vehicle was being driven without a number plate and bumper.

The weapons recovered included unused slashers and clubs. Campaign materials belonging to three aspirants of the area parliamentary seat were also recovered from the car.

Jubilee Party leader president Uhuru Kenyatta hails from Gatundu South, whose current MP is Moses Kuria.

Kuria seeks a Jubilee party nomination ticket to defend his seat, despite high rivalry from opponents.

The party primaries were later cancelled.
