Police and NACADA officials Monday raided University of Nairobi Kikuyu Campus in search of drugs and weapons suspected to be owned by students.
This follows after a similar raid was staged on Saturday in a hostel within Main Campus in which 25kg of bhang, police gear and bloodstained knives were recovered.
The police raided various rooms within Kimberly Wing C and Pioneer Hall One hostels. However, they did not report their findings.
According to UON Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter Mbithi, the University Senate recommended a through clean-up of halls of residence and rooms for possible weapons, alcohol and drugs before re-opening of the institution.
The University of Nairobi was closed indefinitely a week ago following persistent violent protests by students over students elections.
