Bishop Ngaruiya said they recently visited the police station and held a fellowship with the officers at the canteen, but they could not transform their lives much since sitting from where they were they could see their favourite alcoholic drinks.

“We need a conducive environment to teach on life values since it is more difficult for an officer to step forward and seek for their life transformed while they see their favourite alcoholic drink across from where they are sitting,” said Bishop Ngaruiya.

Archbishop Njoroge said the officers were in need of counseling and spiritual guidance, since the nature of their work exposes them to extreme cases of crime and human relationships that can leave them traumatised.

“The government must place the welfare of police officers among the priority areas for the police service by ensuring that there is for example a chapel in every police station where spiritual guidance and nourishment can be made available,” said Archbishop Ngaruiya.
