Police in collaboration with Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) officials have netted 160 cartons of illegal liquor in form of sachets worth Sh600,000

Eldoret West OCPD Samuel Mutunga said the brand 'Simba Waragi' was being transported from Uganda to Nakuru.

"We received information from the public that there some two pro boxes carrying illegal liquor from Malaba transporting it to Nakuru that's when in collaboration with KRA carried raid and arrested two suspects in Eldoret town," he said in Eldoret town, Thursday.

"The two suspects Daniel Wandera and Kennedy Shikuku will be arraigned in court on Wednesday morning. They are not in possession of identity cards and we suspect they are among the dangerous criminals we were looking for," he added.

He, however, thanked the members of the public for working with the police by giving critical information to ensure that the sale of illegal liquor is a thing of the past.

"I want to give a stern warning to those selling and consuming illegal liquor that their days are numbered and soon they will be brought to book," noted Mutunga.

KRA officer in charge of investigation David Wanjohi said they will work round the clock to ensure that Kenyans don't consume alcohol.

"We will continue carrying out crackdowns on the same until the illicit liquor is out of the market. I want to caution Kenyans that they should not consume since they have more harm than good," he added.
