Nairobi Police Commander Japheth Koome as said that police are not aware of any any other meeting in Nairobi Tuesday next week apart from President Uhuru Kenyatta's swearing in ceremony.

While avoiding to mention the speculation of a NASA rally set to be held at Uhuru Park, Koome said no one had communicated to his office the intent to hold a rally in the city.

He said there was a set procedure for convening public rallies in Nairobi and that nobody had followed that procedure.

This, he said, left them with the assumption that there was no other event going to take place in the city.

"You must notify the station commander of where the procession will start. Nobody has notified any of the station commanders about any other function on Tuesday," he said.

"If anybody does not involve police and wants to break the law... that person should know we will deal firmly with such cases according to the law," he added.

As a cautionary measure, Koome said the area around Uhuru Highway including NASA's Uhuru Park venue have been marked as red spots and that police will man them from morning to see to it that nobody accesses them.

Opposition leaders have said they will use the rally to swear in Raila President of Peoples Republic of Kenya.
