The MP claims that crime is escalating in most parts of Limuru Sub County.

Speaking to journalists at Karanjee-Kabuku village in Limuru on Tuesday, Mwathi said that police are not doing enough to tame crime.

He alleged that criminal gangs are causing havoc in the area.

Mwathi cited Kabuku, Ngecha and Limuru town as crime hot spots.

“Law enforcement agencies must do their work and get rid of criminals causing locals sleepless nights every time and then,” he said as quoted by the Star.

Mwathi claimed that locals are now living in fear of attacks.

On Sunday night, two men were shot dead and a woman seriously injured by unknown thugs at Karanjee village.

The two men and a woman were waylaid by unknown people as they walked home and killed near the Buxton Railway tunnel.

According to the police, investigations into the killing are underway.

Limuru OCPD Samuel Obara confirmed that killing saying that the two were shot dead as they tried to run away from the gangs.

He said that a middle aged woman sustained bullet injuries on the head and is receiving treatment at the Tigoni sub-county hospital.

“Police investigations into the killing are underway and we will give a report once the investigation is complete,” said the OCPD.

Obara noted that the motive of the killing is not known. He added that police are following crucial leads that will see the culprits nailed.

Locals have been lamenting over rising crime within Limuru Sub County.

The locals say that cases of crime are increasing and urge the law enforcers to guarantee their safety.

“Our security should be the first priority for the law enforces as we enter the festive seasons,” said John Mburu, a resident in Limuru town.

Last week, Limuru MP John Kiragu urged the police to beef up security.

He said that crime tend to increase during the festive season.

On Sunday, Kiambu county commissioner Wilson Wanyanga said security will be heightened ahead of the festive seasons. He urged locals to cooperate with the law enforces as they conduct patrols in search of criminal goons.
