A senior police officer in Kisumu was on Friday arrested over a missing gun and ammunition.
Confirming the arrest Nyanza Regional Police Coordinator Leonard Katana, said that the officer, whose identity has not been disclosed, is being held at Kisumu Central Police Station pending investigations.
The officer, who is a sergeant in charge of Railways Police Station armory, will be taken to court once the investigations are complete.
Katana also said that they will be conducting firearms’ audit at the armory as part of the probe into the matter.
He further said that they will follow the right procedure while addressing the issue.“We shall take him to court after investigations are complete and we have enough evidence. There is a proper procedure of handling the matter and we shall follow it,” said Mr Katana, as quoted by Daily Nation.
