Constable Judith Gallant took the action after what is believed to have been a family feud back home.

Coming from leave, Ms Gallant was expected to start her duties again on Monday but that would not be as her Regional Commandant Michael Mutonyi disclosed.

“I was informed by a junior officer that one of their colleagues had committed suicide. I rushed there only to learn that it was Judith and her two children aged four and six years,” said Mr Mutonyi.

Mr Mutonyi said that the officer had recently been posted in Homa Bay after her stint in Kisumu where she hails from.

Mutonyi said that police had begun their investigations into the incident, though colleagues speculated that the incident may have come after a family conflict back home.

“Our preliminary investigations reveal she wrote a message to a family member that she would take her own life if things are not settled amicably. We are waiting her family to settle before we start interrogating them about the death,” he said.
