An administration police officer was on Wednesday charged with the murder of a matatu passenger.The accused, Stephen Omondi, was charged with killing Jackson Mwangi at Makupa area in Changamwe on October 17, 2017.The prosecution told the court that Omondi shot Mwangi in the head at the Makupa roundabout roadblock while chasing a matatu that the deceased was traveling in.The matatu driver had been flagged down by police at a roadblock in Makupa but refused to stop, prompting police to pursue the vehicle.The court heard that the shooting incident occurred at around 7.30pm.Omondi, however, denied the charges before Lady Justice Dora Chepkwony and filed an application to be released on bail pending the next case hearing.He was released on a Sh500,000 bond.The hearing of the case has been set for March 8, 2018.
