The militants burnt down two police vehicles during the ambush.

12 officers were escorting a bus to Mandera when the vehicles were hit by rocket-propelled grenades, and one officer is still missing.

An officer who sought for anonymity said they  have communicated with the missing officer who they believe is in a hide out in the area

No passenger in the bus was injured since the bus was far away from the scene of the attack.
