The officer allegedly committed the offence against the 11-year-old girl at an IDP Camp.

Abdalla Njeru pleaded guilty when he appeared before Molo Senior Principal Magistrate Heston Nyaga.

The court was told that on October 13, 2013 at Gacharage IDP Camp in Kuresoi, Njeru defiled the minor who had gone for a short call at night. Dominic Muteti, the leading prosecutor and Police Inspector, told the court that Njeru went ahead and threatened her with severe consequences if she told tanyone of the incident.

The mother of the young girl testified in the case and she told the court that she noticed something was amiss with her daughter and when she asked her a number of questions, the girl told her that Njeru had defiled her.

Her mother took her to hospital the following morning before she recorded a statement with the police at Molo Police station leading to the arrest of the suspect.

Delivering the judgment, Justice Nyaga said that the medical report and the witness accounts before court proved beyond any reasonable doubt that the accused committed the offense, which is against sexual offenses Act of 2006.

The magistrate called for a deterrent sentence for the accused noting the increasing defilement cases.
