A police officer has been arrested for opening fire on motorists at Ndii, along Nairobi-Mombasa highway on Wednesday night.

No one was injured in the incident, according to Voi OCPD Joshua Litukai.

The police boss said that constable Ngaleki Mkenya was drunk and armed.

Mkenya is attached to Ndii Standard Gauge Railway site.

A tanker transporting fuel to Uganda was shot during the shooting.

“He opened fire on passing motorists as he was about to board a vehicle to Mtito Andei after work. His colleagues who were with him during the incident took cover and disarmed him. He will be arraigned at Voi Law Courts after investigations,” said the OCPD, as quoted by Nation.
