A police reservist was on Friday shot dead following a cattle raid at village near Kambi Nyoka GSU camp in Samburu.

Also killed in the morning incident were two herders, including a 12-year-old boy, as they drove cattle for grazing in Maralal.

According to an eye witness Joseph Lekatak, an armed gang of about 40 rustlers ambushed them on the road.

"I heard a loud gun shot as cattle were heading beyond Kambi Nyoka for grazing," he said.

"You government aren't aware that Baragoi is part of Kenya? There is not any action against insecurity. My brother has died innocently, he has never taken part in cattle raids and the wealth we have is our own sweat," said Damaris Lenadongor.

Joseph Lelemedero, a parent who lost his son in the attack, has pleaded with the government to arm all KPR with quality weapons.

Samburu North OCPD Alphonce Munga has since confirmed the incident and said police are investigating the incident.
