Speaking during the North Rift Inter-County Forum on Thursday at a hotel in Eldoret, Mr Abdi said there were enough officers who will be carrying out frequent patrols to ensure residents and their property are secured.

"I have recalled all my officers who have been on leave to ensure Uasin Gishu residents partake their Christmas celebrations without disturbance," he said.

He said security would be given a first priority during the celebrations and after the festivities.

"Am declaring war on criminal gangs, their days are numbered."

He urged Uasin Gishu residents to embrace the Nyumba Kumi initiative by familiarising themselves with the people living in their midst.

"I urge Kenyans to help us in the fight against insecurity by reporting those suspicious people since security begins with them," he said.

He said he understands that there has been rising insecurity but he assured residents that the matter will be dealt with and put to rest.
